Top Five Cute summer solo dates

“Hot Girl Summer” is brewing which means it’s time to ditch the turtle necks and show off your legs. Mornings will be filled with mimosa brunches while nights will be flirtatious, romantic, and never-ending. Summer is full of opportunities for self-love and confidence. As your social calendar fills up, don’t forget to check in with yourself often. Here are my top five summer solo dates.

1. Have a Picnic

Nothing is better than lying on a blanket, feeling the sun’s rays soak into your skin. The ultimate solo date is a picnic in the park! Not only is it low-budget, but it can be tailored to your preference. Bring your current read or a paint-by-numbers set. On a hot day, you may find others playing music, selling hot dogs, or catching frisbees. Dogs will run up to you asking for a scratch behind the ear. This is the perfect opportunity to people-watch and sip your sparkling lemonade.

2. Visit the Farmer’s Market

Sunday morning farmer’s markets are the tastiest way to stock up on seasonal fruits. Bring your matcha and tote bag! Grab breakfast at the food truck. To build on this experience, use your fresh ingredients to cook a tasty meal. You can even treat yourself to a bouquet of fresh flowers. Farmers’ markets are also full of vendors selling handmade crafts and art. I once found a very cute crochet strawberry plant.

3. Ride A Bike

If you do not own a bike, Lyft is a very accessible option offering both manual and electric bikes. There are multiple pick up locations throughout multiple cities. My favorite place to bike is the park; however, it is a wonderful experience to bike next to the beach while listening to the ocean waves. Do not forget your helmet!

4. View Art at the Museum

Museums are a great activity for days when it is too hot to be outside. Many cities offer free museum days, usually within the first two weeks of the month. Going solo allows you to take your time, observe the art, and make your interpretation. If you are into drawing, bring your sketchbook and pencils. Sit by your favorite painting and try to re-draw it. Pro tip: bring headphones! Many museums offer a playlist to listen to that explains the history behind certain art pieces.

5. Visit the Botanical Garden

Not only do flowers smell good, they are also stunning. Many flowers begin to bloom in spring and are in full effect by summer. Head to your local Botanical Garden to take photos with colorful floral backgrounds. Some even have butterfly gardens.

Say goodbye to seasonal depression, and soak up the vitamin C while you can. The summer is the perfect time to explore new places in your city. All of the activities listed can be easily turned into a group activity. Don’t forget to stay hydrated! Bring your fruit water and popsicles. Wear your sunscreen to protect your skin; but most of all, have fun!
